Makes Me wonder why MMC abandoned the Oiler as well as damper blades. They must know something.
Cost reduction and reduced assembly time.
My theories:
With the switch to R&P steering, the trend to wider tyres, and the increase in Castor Angle (they went to 6 degrees around the time they went to R&P) the tendency to exhibit St Malvern's dance was greatly reduced so the damper blades could be dispensed with.
The Oiler always was a bit of a fudge as a means of ensuring that owners who didn't regularly get under the cars and grease them properly could at least get some lubrication in place. since the 1990's or thereabouts, Morgans have switched from being relatively cheap enthusiast sports cars which were generally owner-maintained to being significantly expensive leisure cars which are generally dealer-maintained. MMC are able to trust the dealers to do the necessary greasing properly so no need for the oiler which doesn't work very well anyway, engine oil is not a good lube for sliding surface applications.
Plus as Martin says, it's cheaper
