I keep hearing stuff thats not so good about MOrgans and wet weather..........headlights filling up etc........... Since I'm thinking about Cornwall to Manchester in a week or so, and the probability of wet weather, is it better if I take the van, or am I listening to too many 'fussers? I cant see the wipers being a lot of good either way- remind me of Morriss 1000 wipers.....

You have to be 'in it to win it' as they say. Get out there and find out. No one likes to get their Mog wet but in 2009 every journey we made was a really wet one for the major part of it. Put the hood up if it rains. Leaks around the front side screens / hood corner were the worse. So have some tissue or spongy fabric handy. The wipers were fine for me. Just drive within the limits of visibility. Happy Driving

On a rare occasion I've driven on the motorway in the rain. With the hood down the only problem seems to be that the rain comes over the screen, mists the inside, and drips on your thighs. Take a towel and something to wipe the inside of the screen, like a microfibre water magnet cloth. It also runs up the mirror plinths and bubbles around the sidescreen frame on the inside of the doors. I stopped that with some extra seals. If you wear glasses, they may also get misted, but so far that hasn't been a problem.
With the hood up, it's cosy, a bit stuffy even, but with the side window open there's no draught on my Roadster, so it's not unpleasant. The wipers are adequate. Unless it's heaving down, you're better off with the half tonneau on and the hood down I reckon. I went over to Buxton on friday of Mog MMx in the wet with the hood down and quite enjoyed it!!!

Great....I'll organise a jack socket in case I want to adulterate the engine note with music, and do the Manchester run rain or shine; I already know that rains OK with the top down as long as theres no red lights, so tonneau for the trip, and hood /sidescreens in case it gets too wet! Cant wait...!

I'm not sure how old your car is or what the differences are between recent and older, mine's '86 and I've driven it in heavy rain and torrential rain with the hood up and always been impressed by how little rain gets in. Misting up can be a problem but the wipers work well and I have NO qualms AT ALL about using it in these conditions. In August in Suffolk my wife and I encountered the heaviest rain I have seen, an absolute cloud burst, I got a wet arm when a bus passed the other way and splashed water up between the side screen and the door. There was a loud squeeling noise which sounded like the fan belt slipping whenever we were particularly deluged but it never missed a beat and we were reasonably dry at the end of the joiurney too. Go for it, you'll be fine! Regards

go for it. the wipers will be fine, even in very heavy rain (will mine have been in cloud busts). The hood may let in a light rain, I always have a towel in the car, but for the past two i have never had to use it.

I've driven my trad in the most horendous rain ever in Belgium, I came back from a drift-course, so I felt confident, but hell, the car felt so fine, luckily I have an engine-room beside its parking spot, so it get vented with HOT air, making sure it dries out fine

I use one of the off the shelf windscreen products 'Rainex' I think its called, to improve wet weather visability. I apply it after cleaning and when rain hits the screen it instantly beads together and races off. Its remarkable stuff and at times I've not even bothered with the wipers it's so effective. It needs reapplying every couple of weeks. Worth considering!

do you not find that using rainex causes the drops of rain to form into large droplets at the edges of the screen , and then get forced around the edge by the wind. being heavier drops the land on you and do not fly past.
