It just seems that with our hand built cars the human factor creeps in sometimes and maybe something is missed along the way Craig.

My only brand new Morgan was a 4/4 Sport in 2009 and it was a brilliant little car and so much fun - I had 3 windscreens in it before the factory had the dealer adjust the rake of the screen to prevent further cracks. None of the screens were impact damage.
Things kept coming unglued like the wing stays and the under rear wing reflectors and the ECU, so things do happen. All this happened during 20,000mls in 3 years of all year round use I will add.

My first was a 1994 Plus 8 and it ran like a very noisy watch with nothing falling off or breaking wink.

My current Plus 8 runs like a very very noisy watch with the Librands dual exhaust system with nothing falling off or breaking wink.

What I have learnt is that the quality control was probably better in previous years of production and that if you buy a new Morgan you have to be ready for a few niggles in the early days.

Unless you wish to make that a lifetimes work don't buy an M3W grin2.

Nothing else comes close to the ownership and enjoyment of these loveable bits of automotive history love..

And in 30 years time every one will be saying my God I should have bought one while I could wink.

Dont know about the later cars. My first two just sat on wooden planks, the 79 +8 is mounted on two z brackets. No wood.

I spent several years working on productinising manufacturing processes, after training in some Japanese factories. Its remarkable how they paid attention to many little things and steadily eliminated lots of minor quality issues without much capital investment. Swanmog are off to see the triumph motorbike plant which is based on many improvements we learnt from Kawasaki. If Morgans are still subject to these basic production errors, it seems that they could do with some of the same.

I suspect there would have to be demand before anything much changed. Whilst the customer base is happy to be seduced by clever marketing and styling gimmicks the quality of engineering will remain as is. Perhaps we get the products we deserve.

I had a longtime fuel smelling and leaking problem during the last summer. The reason was a buckled petrol hose between the petrol tank and the roll over valve on top of the tank. The underlying cause was a broken bracket of the roll over valve. Subsequently the pressure in the petrol tank is encreased. Now I‘ve fixed the roll over valve and renewed the petrol hose - all problems are solved since I made this modification.
