Shooter, that was exactly my point when I referred to what I had read though in my previous post I forgot completely about the Aeromax. I'll provide a bottle of champagne (you will have to come and collect it in SW France) to anyone who can provide reasonable data showing that more than 1000 Aero based cars have been built and delivered.

Cheers

I wonder if many more were really ordered after that engine commitment was all finally used up?

My memory is not clear, but didn’t CM sign up to 250 (or was it 300?) engines from BMW?

Certainly I think it was over 1000 Aero-chassisied cars produced, but well short of the circa 2000 quoted by MMC... coffee

Brian, you may be right. Memory is a wonderful thing but often distorted smile It may be that 200 were left around the time of the supersport prototype debut. To hazard a guess, I think that somewhere between 1,000 and 1,500 is more likely a number. Someone did try to tell me that 200 S5's had been produced (insert incredulous emoji!)

As for DVLA reliability of data, the C0C's and V5's for GTN's don't show correct info. Mind you Ferrari is far worse, in most cases at least up to the mid 80's there was little differentiation between models in DVLA data.

I have a copy of the Aero Register back from when the site was active, not a definitive answer but it would help shed some light on numbers with the VINs that are logged (well certainly with the minimum figures).

The register copy I have from Feb17 has the following logged:

Series 1 - 280
Series 2 - 115
Series 3 - 192
Series 4 - 179
Aeromax - 104

No figures on Supersport, Plus 8 or Series 5 though..
