Why not cut the plywood a bit to make room for the spring. Chances are something else would contact, maybe the dif cover

My stops are set to absorb the energy rather than the bodywork. It’s a much nicer ride

It is a new car take it back to be fixed I fully agree and will do so. Just wanted to know if I should take care in the meantime until taking the car back. You may have to be quite forceful with the dealer - I learned the hard way that Morgan have quite fixed views on what constitutes a warranty issue on rear springs.
What could be the solution to ask for?

When are you going to sell me some Roger? Nick Don’t hold your breath Nick. First I have to find my next car (still looking). Then I have to check my new version for fit and function on the new hoop. The old ones won’t fit as the hoop design has changed. Is this a standard damping element (I mean the rubber cone)? Yes it is but not Morgan. It’s a modified BMC Mini item. Good luck and I hope your dealer can resolve it.

Rog, those bump stops really are great. Just out of interest on my 2011 4/4, I used to get quite a thump when the rear suspension was shall we say exercised. The thump was much reduced when I ensured that the jack in the tool tray was secured.

The problem has now been solved:
There were two reasons: - the propshaft touched the tunnel and - the universal joint touched the end of a screw with which an eyelet for our dog was fastened.
The solution: The tunnel was set approx. 1.5 cm higher and the screw was replaced by another one (instead of the hexagonal screw a door hinge screw[has a flat head] and inserted from bottom to top instead of from top to bottom as before.

I have a question that is probably typical of newcomers (I searched the forum but found nothing - although it has certainly already been discussed):
During the first rides with our new Plus 4 I noticed a noise several times during bumps. It sounded like there wasn't enough travel. What amazes me, however, is that it wasn't a big bump. There were 2 persons in the vehicle (approx. 160 kg) without further payload.
What's beating what?
Is there anything to consider here, or are "they all doing it"? A quick check to see the car is not sagging to one side(usually drivers) is worthwhile. There is plenty on TM on the subject.
