I am fitting a Lucas push start button which I wish to connect in addition to the key start.

I have four wires coming out of the start key switch namely brown, white, white with red line and green with white line. Can any one tell me to which wires I need to connect the push switch terminals. Thank you.

As the MMC don't use the same colours in the wiring consistantly, far safer to test with a voltmeter or even just a simple test bulb & wire
one will be constant live feed to the switch, then in position 1 on the key another will be live ie ignition, then when you turn to the spring loaded 'twist' another one will become live to trigger the starter, this is the one to remove from the keyswitch and feed via your push button (if you leave it through the keyswitch you will have to twist & press together)

I did this. Let me take a look at the weekend. Mine wasn’t wired in until I did it.

According to the Lucas wiring colour code, white with a red trace is the feed from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid so should be the one you need to use

So which colour do I need to connect to going from the harness to the switch harness on to the starter push button, and then on to the white with a red line to the solenoid , at the connection point from the car harness to the key harness. This way I suppose both the key start and the button could be used. I do not want the push button to operate without the key in the ignition position.
