Hey guys just wondering if anyone is putting anything to line where the bonnet touches/rubs the body of the Morgan. I have some paint wear in a few spots so was thinking of putting some door edge guard or something on the edge of the bonnet.

Clear helicopter tape on the body also where the boot catches swing and catch the paint.

It's primary use is for the leading edges of rotor blades to stop damage.

I use 3M car paint protection film which is readily available on eBay. It comes in flat sheets with a peel-off backing. I've never come across helicopter tape but I guess it's similar to the 3M stuff?

I've also applied it to the leading edge of the passenger side cockpit lip (just forward of the leather bit) where untrained passengers tend to catch their shoes on the paintwork! In addition I've put strips around the cockpit to prevent the underside of the tonneau from rubbing the paint when flapping around in half-tonneau mode.

From new mine had clear film on the body where the forward edge of the bonnet sides sit. It did not last long. I glued leather patches under the tonneau to cover the lift the dot fasteners.

HoHoHo.

Not only do I use neoprene, I use clear film protector and sometimes leather patches.

Have you checked the underside surface of the bonnet panels ? The paint on the scuttle of my 4/4 got damaged in this way. Close inspection revealed that there were a couple of rough spots on the undersides of the bonnet, which i smoothed down with a dremel before touching up. It did not then re-occur.
