Does my 2007 V6 3.0 litre Roadster have a timing chain or belt?
Also, are there any maintenance that I should undertake even if it is a chain, i.e. new tensioners etc? It has covered 18K so mileage relatively low for the year. Oil and filter changes have been undertaken annually.

Reggie, I have the V6 Roadster with the ST220 engine so slightly different to yours. It has according to the Mondeo Haynes manual a timing chain. There is no maintenance suggested that I can find.

Thanks John for looking up the details in your Haynes manual. It's interesting there's a difference between a 2006 and 2007 Roadster engine. Further research revealed the below entry on Wikipedia which may suggest it is a Duratec engine, initially designed in the early 1990s as a 2.5 litre that eventually was enlarged to 3.0 litre and the design had some input from Porsche!. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Duratec_V6_engine.Either way I'll take the engine number and visit a Ford dealership to see if they can confirm but it's probably a chain like yours.

It’s a duplex chain Don’t worry about it, just yearly oil changes so the hydraulic tensioner doesn’t get gunked up The V6 has its origins in the 2.0 Mazda engine used in the Mazda 6 and the Xedos back in the 90’s Ford first used it as a 2.5ltr in the Probe
Despite rumours the engine is not the Jaguar unit, the Jaguar version has different cylinder heads and valve activation

Simon, Many thanks for clarifying that and reassuring me and I hope others too.
