I removed the inertia switch and cut each of the two wires about an inch from the switch. I then joined them together with electrical connectors and wrapped in insulation tape.
The internals of the inertia switch don’t half rattle around when you give it a little shake.

This is interesting.. I have had my MTW for 18 months and it has always started on the button. I went for a drive last week and got caught in a terrible traffic jam, the engine went into skip fire mode and eventually the engine warning light came on. Fortunately the dual carriageway had a wide central reservation so I was able to sit it out for an hour or so. Note to self; fit urban cooling fan that I bought 6 months ago. I have kept it on trickle charge as I do normally but on Saturday It wouldn't start. It had fuel at the injectors and a spark at the plugs. I had read about the cutoff button so gave it a press, this didn't work until I held it down an tried to start it again, whereupon a large flash occurred from between cylinders and it started. It has been fine since, hope this helps.

It's happened again! Just leaving Blenheim Palace yesterday and saw a stranded M3W on the side of the road. Owner seemed resigned to his fate and actually didn't seem too concerned because the RAC were on their way with a tow truck. There was a phone box nearby so I quickly changed into my Superman outfit and reset his fuel cut-off switch. The engine started on the button. How many M3W owners have been stranded and incurred untold misery due to nuisance tripping of this switch?

Mine went through a phase of tripping, it could last anything from a few hundred yards to 100+miles between going off. I replaced it with a new one which lasted for about 500 miles then started playing up so it's now cable tied shut. It hasn't failed since

I understand about the fuel cutoff switch being bypassed or eliminated. There is another switch behind the left rollbar and bulkhead. Its rattling is quite distracting, and I would like to eliminate or bypass it too, but I don't know its function. If the forum could assist me in this, I would appreciate it, and apologize beforehand for the thread drift.

Sounds like the fuel cut off when flyin? inverted! Some people have removed this. Mine rattles away and I have it clothed in sound deadening but to little avail
