Good to hear it was such a straight forward fix.
A decent electronic ignition system is still the way to go if you get the opportunity!

Got caught out one night (yonks ago on my first car 1.6 cavalier Mk1) by the ballast resistor on the coil intermittently going open circuit, poor RAC guy spent a miserable 5 hours in the rain finding that! swapped everything out eventually traced to a 11 pence resistor tried to bill me for the other stuff I said erm no please refit the original bits at which point he said said sod that and I gave him 11 pence!
Sometimes they can be a right bugger finding a simple fault!

Good to hear it was such a straight forward fix.
A decent electronic ignition system is still the way to go if you get the opportunity! I have yet to find a "decent electronic ignition system". The ones I have used (Pertonix for an example) have failed and I have no expertise in electronics. Other than the Zetec powered DHC I am sticking with the Points/Ballast/Coil system. I have added a CD Box which I can by-pass if needed.
