BHM having been telling me that my steering box is coming to the end of its useful life for a couple of years now, and severe juddering whilst breaking caused me to take the car to a local garage, recommended by Ian W, where Mark the owner told me much the same thing. Anxious to save a few pounds if I can I’m looking at getting the box refurbished by G.E.E. Ltd in Nailsworth and wondered whether anybody had any experience of them. I spoke to Terry there this afternoon and he seemed knowledge and helpful, which was a good start for me.

Thanks for any insights the forum can offer,

Regards

Mark

Look no further than Terry Foxen at GEE. He's refurbished the long column boxes on my 1968 and 1969 cars as well as the short column box on my 1972 car. He really knows his stuff on the steering boxes inc the later Gemma ones.

The 1969 box was particularly mullered, the previous owner believed it 'just needed a new bearing' - it didn't ......new worm and peg!

No connection with Terry or GEE other than satisfied customer.

There's bugger all that Terry doesn't know about traditional Morgans. He's the main (possibly only?) UK source of replacement chassis for earlier cars. A lovely bloke and his workshop is a proper Aladdin's cave.

When I bought the replacement chassis for my 1968 Plus 4 and provided the log book, he remembered the car and its previous owner as he'd worked on it back in the 1980's! He also remembered (accurately!) as being a funny shade of green.

One things for sure, you don't pop into his workshop for a quick visit!!!

I believe he rebuilt my written off 4/4 Sport after the celebrity chef lunched it for me with his Audi down one of our Devon lanes.

The new owner contacted me for the handbook after he bought the car prior to the repair, it's in Wales now .

He's excellent on Classic Three Wheeler stuff too, including the tiny column steering box they have

Even as far away as Seattle, Washington, USA. Terry Foxen has helped Me out of a couple of problems. Highly respected.
