Hi fellas/gals. Just joined the form. I own an '05 Roadster in New York State (Buffalo), so get to drive it about 8 months a year! I'm an ex-pat from the UK and looking for a Mog to keep over there for touring (Continental and UK) Probably a +4 or 4/4. and probably 21st Century (for reliability etc. ..no time to fix on vacation!!!) Any opinions an the various model merits (we can't get to drive newer fours over here) I would love an LM 62 but am a bit wary of 1800 Zetec performance. Any help gratefully accepted. Cheers, David

Everyone is welcome, as long as you have a little petrol in your veins Wonder if that's the first Mog in China?
Cheers

I would love an LM 62 but am a bit wary of 1800 Zetec performance. Any help gratefully accepted. Cheers, David Hi David. +4 ( Duratec): newer generation engine, larger capacity (though not by much 2 litre as opposd to 1800cc), lots of scope for tuning and upgrading the power output, more mid-range torque 4/4 ( Zetec in either silvertop or blacktop forms although there do seem to be some 4/4 Duratecs in existence) : In general terms an 'older' design engine but again not difficult to upgrade power- wise - the main issue is how to 'package' these upgrades when applying them to a Morgan, less torque than a +/4 although one easy way to free up the rev range is to fit a better exhaust ( eg 4 branch stainless steel manifold with a straight- through silencer 4/4 Sport (Sigma 1600 cc engine- The Mazda/Yamaha collaboration) I've not done much work with these, so can't comment except to say that there are quite a few guys on this site who give them a high rating As an overall comment, I think it's worthwhile remembering that a four- cylinder Ford unit is NOT going to give you the torque and cruising ability of the Roadster but there again in the context of many British roads, that isn't a big problem. On the other hand, you mention 'continental' and if this includes long stretches of motorway-type driving, the 4 -cylinders can be quite tiring over long distances so the bigger engine in the +4 might be a strong consideration This might be of interest: http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=52&i=20203 regards, G

G, I'm almost tempted to find a picture of the other one in the Statler / Waldorf duo to use as an avatar But then I'd be depriving all these lovely people of the joy of viewing my ugly mug Cheers,
