Hey guys, thoughts on the best 3 Wheeler goggles to wear? I'm looking for something a bit traditional. I was eyeing the Halcyon Mk49 goggles, but saw one review say that the rubber backing on the strap can pull hair if not worn on the outside of a helmet. Since I may not always be wearing a helmet, this may not be great.

Other opinions?

I have the Halcyon goggles and they are fine. They work well with helmets and the rubber grips them well. I keep my hair on the short side as any longer and I will be losing more hair to the brush afterwards trying to clear the wind knots out.

I mostly use single piece goggles with an external brown tinted visor somewhat like the visor peak some full face helmets have. These are unbranded new old stock that RedThree found & posted about.
Very useful driving into low sun & less need to shade your eyes with your hand. Not stylish but functional.

I need a prescription lens in my goggles so use the Nannini TT. I find that the leather is very soft, so comfortable to wear for prolonged periods. There are various colour options for the lenses, but they are a bit of a fiddle to swap over so I decided to get two pairs: one dark grey for sunshine and the yellow tinted ones for night time and dull days. [These are a bit garish so I refer to them as my Elvis goggles!]

I decided to go for bi-focal lenses with no prescription for the lower half (so that I can still read the dashboard instruments & satnav etc). They are just what I need, but are not a cheap option as I reckon that by the time I’ve had the lenses made and fitted at Specsavers, the goggles come in at nearly £200 a piece.



My co-pilot uses Davida ‘Retro Pilot’ T2 goggles (shown at the top of the photo) which are supremely lightweight & comfortable. These can be worn over spectacles as long as the specs are tiny.

Thanks for the note and pictures, Andy. Definitely something to think about with the glasses. I don't require glasses for driving now, but my eyes are starting to get bad as I unfortunately continue to age, so I may need them in the next couple of years.

I've got the Halcyon goggles, but can't fully recommend them. I do wear them over the helmet though, and can't speak to whether they pull hair.

Pro:
-Leather covers nose so it doesn't burn in the sun without sun block.
-Fairly comfortable, though a bit hot because of the coverage.
-swappable glass with clear and sun protective shades.

Cons:
-Sun glass shades aren't dark enough
-Swapping out the glass is finicky.
-That screw that holds it together at the top takes adjustment every time they are put on. Forget and you might lose that screw, which cost me 20 dollars to replace.
-Too big for 3/4 helmet. Work best for half helmet
