I was going to suggest a pub/B&B near Buckfastleigh in Devon (the abbey is worth a visit) plus there are several other attractions close by, but I can't find it now. Rich+8 and a couple of others will remember it as they joined self and for dinner one evening. The other possibility was south of Exmoor, but you'll be covering that area when you drive to Port Isaac from Clevedon - make sure you drive along the A39 via Porlock Hill, stopping at Dunster for a visit to the village and Castle Also take a divert to Porlock Weir for a stroll - should be quieter than Lynmouth (but the funicular railway is worth a ride up to Lynton). Hi Draggin, this is where we all met up with Graham and Sue for a really nice evening meal. https://www.staustellbrewery.co.uk/pub/buckfastleigh/abbey-innWhen you pass through Devon about this area give us a shout if you like and I'll give the Plus 8 a little exercise. Dartmoor is a lovely visit if the weather is clear and the steam train journey from Buckfastleigh to Totnes is quite a special very British experience. https://www.southdevonrailway.co.uk/principal-fares/

Thanks Richard. I see the owners / landlord have changed. I'll go back one day.

Welcome Graham it still looks well cared for on the outside when I go to the Abbey which is a nice little Cat warming and cup of tea and Cream Tea run for me.
It would be good to see you back down here Graham when time permits. You would barely recognise the site now you probably recall the large older tourist gift shop by the old watermill well all of that is now offices or flats. The other gift shop has had a major revamp all part of their Millenium celebrations this year.

Sounds like some major changes at the Abbey Richard. I trust the tonic wine remains unchanged though? Yes I'll be back, must be 4 years this year?

I believe the Buckie is still as good as ever otherwise we would have had word "off the street" in good ole Glasgie town I think Graham Hard to believe it was 4 years ago we all met up there. Adrian had not long had his Red Roadster then time flies.

We will be definitely looking at all those suggestions when we are in the areas mentioned! Thank you for all the great ideas currently we only have 2 days that are completely open and those are the two days before Goodwood we will be coming back from the st. Ives Cornwall area and have two days to get to our Trackside accommodations at a BnB in Levant.

Now then Draggin, have you been to the UK before? Its a great place, but England in particular is densely populated so manage your expectations on traffic. It can be a nightmare - England is smaller than Michigan, but you have ten million and we have fifty three million, but no fly over counties(except Lancashire - would be stuffed without Manchester Airport) compared to the US, but you might think you are on the highway to hell sometimes, but enjoy anyway. https://mapfight.appspot.com/england-vs-us.mi/england-michigan-us-size-comparison
