Seems we do not need to display front number plates in the UK

There has been much discussion on TM on this subject in the past and if you read the leaflet which is embedded in your link, it states that tricycles based on car bodies (sit in) require a front plate those based on motorcycles (sit on) do not. My comments in the brackets.

Many owners do not run with a front plate and get away with it, but it is a requirement for the M3W

That's me!
As Roy says, if you read all the details then the M3W definitely needs a front plate. Mine's on a shelf in the garage.

I fail to understand the problem really why not just screw it on guru..

As with running illegal black and silver plates, the reflective qualities of the modern plates could just save your life one day.

Each to his/her own though.

Not everybody on the road has Hawkeye vision, that's the problem..........

If it wasn't a problem there would be no such thing as Hi-Vis.

From the MOT manual ( as updated from 20th may)

Three-wheeled vehicles that don’t have a body type which is characteristic of the body of a four-wheeled vehicle don’t require a front number plate. All other vehicles, including quadricycles, must be fitted with front and rear registration plates, which must both be checked to ensure the registration number displayed is the same.

One of the previous threads is here.

My conclusion back then was that you don't require a front plate on the road but you need one to pass an M.O.T. It seems the wording has changed a bit in the last 6 years but the situation is the same.

That's my thinking it makes you just a bit more visible. I dont think having no front plate will let you dodge the average speed cameras.
