It did happen ! Very good source who was involved ! Interestingly many of those so-called "homeless" in Windsor are voluntarily so. They've refused accomodation elsewhere etc etc. "Help the homeless" should really be "home the helpless"! But if folks want to live (beg / drink / sh*t / etc) in the street they need to understand they DON'T have the right to any particular PIECE of street... Remember ALL these "homeless" people have care workers etc (at huge cost to society I might add!). https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018...back-on-my-feetMeanwhile re Appleby: we shouldnt tarnish an entire culture ("travellers") with the bad deeds of a some subset of them. But those who break the law should feel the full force of it - confiscation of vehicles trespassing for a third time would be a good start. Forced repatriation to Dublin / wherever if appropriate with banning from the UK. And time for elected police commissioners to ensure the law is enforced, perhaps?

You're right - the 99% is giving the 1% a bad name.

Well it seems they got me, 6 weeks since 5 units hovering around the industrial estate, i took my caravan home out of the way for a few days, after a weekend away it was placed back in my yard with front hitch clamp, 2 wheel clamps and pad locked gates, they came with a Sthil Saw and off it went with all our belongings.
Here's the best bit, the police have traced one of the Transits that was previously present and footage of motorway Cameras showing the Transit towing it towards the Lancashire area, the police suggest they just cant go looking on Travelers sites because it causes world war 3.
Unfortunately it will be left to the Insurance company to sort me out.

B@@tards. I just can’t understand the police attitude. Is it that they are too understaffed to do anything, afraid of their safety or is it that they dare not move against travellers because of being accused of abusing their rights or of racism? Some dogooders like to suggest that travellers are a different race for some weird reason.

The Police have just not got the resources now.The number of Police Officers that would be needed to enter a Travellers site would be huge. They would have to battle with the Women and children first ! It is not unknown for the children of Five years old and upwards to thrown stones etc at Police. Not worth it to retrieve a Van or Caravan! As with the currant crime of moped riders in London or in other Cities of a gang rushing into a shop and grabbing goods . So perhaps we should be lobbying our MP’s of all parties to start proper policing. The CPSO have no power at all !

I remember suggesting to an Irish friend, during a discussion about travelers in Ireland, that maybe the way forward would be a measure such as that introduced in Italy to combat the black economy, where the Guardia di finanza may require anyone to justify how they have paid for things they own.
He replied that that could never happen as it would be too tricky for Ireland's political class to account for how they came by their own ill-gotten assets.

We already have that power in the UK, since January this year. Unexplained Wealth Orders may be issued against anyone suspected of being involved in serious crime, and I believe Tax Evasion is included, as HMRC can issue the order. Essentially, if the individual is unable to demonstrate how they legitimately came by an asset and is unable to demonstrate they have sufficient income to have purchased it, the asset can be confiscated - and the asset limit is currently £50k. So if a poor family of travelling folk claim they struggle along on insufficient income to pay any tax, and yet are mysteriously in possession of a brand-new Range Rover or whatever, then acton could be taken. I'm not holding my breath about whether these powers would actually be applied i these cases, though.

Deans story happens all the time , I worked for many years i n the caravan rv trade our sales team supporting manufacturers selling sold secure products at earls court and Nec.The stories we were told, towing caravans away with chains caravans on three wheels even stealing firemans hydraulic equipement to cut off wheel and hitch locks. These caravans were never found they would steal a caravan for a fridge or cooker and weigh the rest in for scrap. A hot tip for you caravanners buying second hand if you see pop marks around the cooker area on the vinyl flooring they will be stilleto marks check the chasis number gypsy every time ,they also prefer certain manufacturers like LMC gGeist HYMER etc
