Staying in Bath for a few days after arriving from US. After picking up a rental car our first stop is the Morgan Factory Tour at 12:30 on a Monday. How much time should I allow for the drive? Any suggestions for the route to and from? Any help would be appreciated! KEN

Depends on where you are staying in Bath, Ken. If it's a hotel in the middle then it could take you a good half hour or more just to get to the edge of town, traffic in Bath is horrendous.
Google maps says up to 1 hour 50 minutes for the drive with typical traffic. I hate being late so if it were me I'd allow 2h30m, if not more. After all, if you're early all you have to do is have a cup of tea and a bun while you wait for your tour to start. If you're late and miss your tour it could be a right pain.
As for route, take the A4 out of Bath, turn left onto the A46, follow that North until you get to the M4, turn west as if you were going to Wales and then turn North on the M5 and follow it to the M50 Junction. Down the M50 for a mile or so then off and follow the signs for Malvern Link. A pretty easy drive and a complete doddle with a SatNav.

The cup of tea and a bun sounds good right now. Thanks for the advice. KEN

Refreshments are available at the Factory Ken and the starts and finishes at the cafe so yes, get there early. You can treat the good lady to afternoon tea afterwards!

Just watch the section where the M4 splits to the M5 the lanes split make sure you are heading North Birmingham. It is easy to get pushed into the left hand lane and be heading South or pushed into the two right hand lanes and be heading to Wales. The M4 goes into 5 lanes you want the middle marked M5N .

Safe journey ( I would leave early'ish / leave plenty of time, too) and enjoy the tour..... James

Detour R off the A46 onto the A420 and take the turn to Castle Combe. Return the same way to the A46.

Tour 2/7/18 at 12:30. Maybe stuck in a Vauxhall Astra from Hertz. Not sure what that is. I think we had Vauxhalls here in the '50's or '60's.
Maybe checkout Castle Combe on the way back to Bath. Is their a recommended place to park and go on a walking tour and take in a pub or eatery?
Thanks for the tip and the directions from you all!
