Is there some sort of "non stick" coating that could be applied??

So today I drove the car out of the garage for a good wash: MuckOff is great at removing insect road kill...and brake dust.
Whilst it was out there i washed the hood and re-proofed it, using the AutoGlym stuff. Now it is an uniform dark brown.
Next job is to detail the inside and feed the hungry leather!

Wednesday we taking Tarka over Fort Nelson, overlooking Portsmouth.

Next week we will probably drive up the Fosse Way on our trip to Lincoln, for the TM BBMF trip..., depends a bit on the forecast weather.

Then I'll have to clean it again.... happy3

I took the Coupe out today. None of the cleaning related things Peter talks about - note too self need to buy cleaning things.

Went shopping. Found out the boot on the Coupe is large enough to put wallet into state of fright. In future it would be best to pre-load it prior to going shopping.

Believe it or not I have seen some car owners use cling film on the front of the car to stop the bugs when driving to a show..

In the Aston world, some owners transport their cars in covered trailers. I did suggest that they should hold the concours at the factory and judge the cars as they were born - it would save an awful lot of time.

Can someone please explain the logic of this?

Concours d' Elegance started out as toffs displaying the horse drawn carriages in Paris during summer weekends. Now it seems to have evolved to something that means the vehicle can be pre-preened to the nth degree and then transported under cover, so to arrive in pristine condition.

I'm all for looking at good looking cars in tip top condition, but IMHO all entrants should be driven at least 50 miles to and from the event, with a limited time allowed to give a final polish (and remove dead insects!!).

Some of the things I've seen at car shows and bike shows a little more than ornaments. They need to get real.

At one classic bike show where I was invited to judge the head judge told us to wipe our hand on the bottom of the crank case and if there was no oil and the block was cold, to deduct 20 points. If the case was dry and hot they got an extra 20. This caused an outcry and a couple of people withdrew their bikes from the competition. But I thought it totally reasonable.

I remember seeing an Aston martin in a concours competition once. The machining marks were still on the front discs. The brakes had never been applied!
