The age related number will make it obvious that it is illegal.

Personally I would give the police as little excuse as possible to stop me.

I have been tempted to do it here as the plates are not age-related, but will probably resist the temptation.

(One of the - very few - advantages that Guernsey has over Jersey is that the old style plates are still legal....)

I have always had B/W plates on my car despite it's youth. The rural setting and the lack of other Mogs maintains the secret. I suspect if you are stopped for some other offence like speeding it might then be noticed

I've never had a problem with mine, although on a 1980 W reg they're not so obvious.

I have been toying with getting a dateless plate though, which I guess will reduce the risk a lot.

Good colour Ian!
I presume those are not original wings? Or are they alloy?

If my car was pre-73 I'd probably go for original style plates, but as it's '76 I'll remain legal...

Cheers,

They are alloy wings, although not immune to corrosion around the edges. I like Ivory (or Cream as the DVLA call it).

I reckon there aren't too many bobbies around these days who would notice anything wrong with R reg B&W plates on a Morgan. On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me if a quick zap with some electronic device would prompt an on board computer to spit out an on the spot fine so you're probably right to play safe.

Hi All,
Brian, are ready to move to Guernesey ?

Daniel.

eek Daniel, as you know there is extreme rivalry between the Islands (mostly) good natured. Allegedly this goes back to the English civil war when Jersey supported the Royalists and Guernsey the Parliamentarians. So No.

Actually the reality is that Guernsey is a very pleasant place, The capital is much nicer that St Helier but I prefer the Jersey countryside. (I also have no rights to live there!).
