The most recent brave soul to cross the USA in his Morgan 3W experienced his first mechanical breakdown. Considering that he's covered thousands of miles already, he is incredibly fortunate to have been just an hour away from our garage! The car arrived first, on a tow truck late at night. Will Freeman met up with Bill Fink and members of the Nor Cal Morgan Club at our Father's Day Morgan BBQ (already planned in Will's honor) the next day. His blog is at 48 States in M3W Blog

Hope it's a quick and easy fix and the trip continues smoothly.

According to his blog it was a fuel pump failure, it lasted approximately 6000 miles.

Nope! From Coach Will’s latest post, the car broke down again only two and a half hours’ driving after the new fuel pump had been fitted. He seems to think it may be something to do with the new fuel pump. After the experience we had with fuel pumps on the Albert Ball Memorial run (one failure just before the trip - on my car - and two failures on the trip), I did email Coach Will before he started his trip to warn him that he might like to take a spare fuel pump with him. Maybe the advice should have been to take two!

Just read his blog and it certainly appears he is concerned but positive. Still a long way to go

He is sponsored by Morgan so there should be a good supply of parts and service.

Fortunately, I have Bill Fink working on it. he is replacing the fuel pump and filter (overnighted from New England Morgan). He has been talking with others about this, including England, and he suspects it could be the fuel lines being too close to the the hot cylinders. He is heat wrapping them and moving them away from the engine. It makes sense as apparently the gas is going to and from the engine, looping to the fuel pump. If the gas gets too hot, it can slow or stop the impeller. This might be the issue that has plagued many folks. We'll see. I do know i have the best guy working on it.
