Not sure if this is another “ they all do that”- but the Speedster seems to have very many steering rattles? Even when stationary and you turn the steering side to side it rattles from the front.

Actual, steering of the car is fine- other than I keep thinking something is about to fall off?

Any ideas?

Check where the steering column passes through the bulkhead. They can sometimes just touch.......

I have no experience of the Aero chassis systems at all but I would definitely get that checked over thoroughly by a dealer before you get too brave in it, there shouldn't be rattling noises.

Minimum jack it up and get someone to rock the steering wheel while you hold the wheels in turn and identify the slack whatever it is.

Several Aero guys on here have mentioned worn rose joints in the steering department on here and replacement thereof normally by Simon on here.

Good luck.

I have the same car - in the hooded format - no rattles.

Power steering motor maybe?

It needs checking out.

Just get the dealer to poke about a bit. It can be rose joints but not something to ignore.

Ok thanks all. Asked the dealer for a slot this week to have a look

Went out for a blast this afternoon - these things are just such fun- you drive “ normal” cars all week- then get in the Morgan- and in seconds you are laughing out loud.

You can- because no one can hear a thing over the engine and side pipes.

I find myself chuckling every time I get to open the throttle.

I took a mate out in mine for a late afternoon pint.... he loved it. It is the perfect car for such a trip.

I had a similar problem on the Aero +8, a horrible grinding vibrating noise when turning the wheel with the car stationery or just manoeuvring. I was told, yes you guessed it, they all do that Sir!
I was at the Factory with loads of people in the car park, I started the car and reversed out of my space making one helluva noise which drew much attention.
Steve Morris and Mark Evans were there too, the car was booked into the workshop immediately and problem solved, replacement pump IIRC. Quiet as a mouse ever since so perceviere with it.

No rattles from the steering, but when cold and driving over road imperfections some from the suspension. Once the car is good and hot these noises go away, so I suspect it is rose joints in need of fettling.

On full lock the power steering pump makes a squealing/groaning noise, as cars with hydraulic power steering used to do....

Tarka has run over 35,000 miles now, next service will be in October.
