Having had over two years and 9000 miles of trouble free fun, thrills and excitement with my 2016 M3W, I today handed the keys over to my local dealer. I will certainly miss the beast but there are many reasons I'm trading it in for a new Roadster to be built shortly.

It may seem like a snap decision but have been considering it for some time, mainly to allow my partner to join me in some long distance touring - she refused to get in the M3W confused2

To balance the books a little on the reliability issues many have had with the five speeders, I've had none of any importance with mine and it only failed to start once with flat battery mid winter when not used for six weeks. Icing on the cake was receiving what I paid for it new 27 months ago as deposit against the Roadster.

Look forward to picking up hints and tips on this new to me section of the forum.

You'll miss it..!!

Had mine almost two years, several adventures in it, many soakings, a few issues but I wanted to extend my Morganeering to all year round with a roof and heater. I often sigh when I chat with the other three wheeler guys, but I wouldn't go back. I'm lucky to be able to say we had one, but it's time to move on.

What I do miss is the camaraderie between owners. With the exception of a minority, most four wheeled Morgan owners aren't of the same mindset. I've made some really great, long term friends through the Morgan world, but there are those that are very narrow focussed I'm afraid.

As to Roadsters...Boy, are they a Hot Rod..!!

I've never owned a car that can be such an animal when booted, but such a pussycat when pootling.. Amazing beasts & a truly magnificent soundtrack with a sports exhaust.

Any major issues..? Nah. Rev hang was, but diminished of later years. Mine even does more MPG than the M3W..

Great trade in, too. Well done.

Good news you had a trouble free 9,000 mile experience and that you are graduating into four wheels you won't regret it + you won't need ear plugs.

Welcome to the 4W world Richard smile
Not that the number of wheels, or body tub/chassis, matter - they've all got the correct badge and all made in Malvern thumbs

Many thanks for the words of encouragement from Steve, Neil and others. Certainly makes me feel better about the not inconsiderable decision to trade in the M3W.

Yes as guessed it was KH who finalised the deal with the new purchase. What a breath of fresh air to deal with Dan Whiting although I've had to part with the M3W early.

Richard,

Well done on your choice, make sure you go and see it in build if you can, we did, and even my wife says the experience of talking to the lads on the shopfloor was great

Our 3.7 is now just two weeks old, 700 miles, and apart from removing the top of my thumb every time I pull the handbrake on it's fab

Enjoy !
