It would be interesting to know just what the ceiling prices are for Trads. and 3 Wheelers? However much people like Morgans, there is bound to be a price at which they don't consider them to be any kind of value.
Given that the cost of a car is the amount lost in depreciation, not the initial cost of it, and dealers' retail prices on s/h cars are all very high, then perhaps many thinking about a new car will convince themselves that they won't lose much, if any money in depreciation or as it's called now, residuals,at sale time, however they tend to forget that a dealers price is nowhere near a trade in or buy in price, and my guess is that a dealer will put about £5000 or more onto a car when it gets retailed.
When I was selling my first Three Wheeler after 1 year and with 3000 miles on the clock, I advertised it for £25k and ended up selling for around £22k after quite a while. This when the price new was around £32k plus and when Three Wheelers were very rare too. The best offer from a dealer was £20k! They were all advertising similar cars for around £28k - £32 depending on spec.
It's easy to see why someone could get seduced into the man maths and decide there is still very little depreciation on a Morgan. Admittedly though, not as bad as most cars, which will lose half their value in 3 years, unless they are French of course, in which case they lose most of their value in 3 years.

I think if you are in the market for a Morgan you will go for a new one, why would you want a just secondhand one, I think these are the one's that are stalling in the marketplace.
I have bought 2 new Morgans.... but have to say that it's one of the few car marques that you could buy 2nd hand with confidence. I don't think it would be a stretch to say that all Morgan owners are quite fastidious about their cars. Apart from Jenks, there are no boy racers.  A 2nd hand Morgan is likely to have been fully sorted and very cherished.

A 2nd hand Morgan is likely to have been fully sorted and very cherished. That has been my findings that the second hand one's have been cared for and sorted. Whereas my new one needed a lot of warranty work which meant downtime. Well Jenks is different

. Apart from Jenks, there are no boy racers. Takes one to know one and I'd say we are both firmly put into second place by Aeroman!

Have you sold yours yet ? [/quote] Not sold as yet very little interest in the uk but several dubious enquiries from FRANCE, ITALY, GERMANY. ... It's the pound versus euro exchange rate I think. But having sold a classic bike ( 1930 cotton tt racer ex works with provenance ) never again ! They are such messers! So uk only for me I'm in no rush to sell but it will be going ,if not this year next year at an increased price  [/quote] Interesting to hear about your experience with overseas customers, I wish you luck with the sale because I really thought with the model no longer being produced it would go fairly quickly. It's a good job you are in no rush for the money the waiting game normally pays dividends.

It's certainly not expensive for what it is. I will only buy a replacement for the morgan after it is sold
