Now with the new chassis (2017) the car is the sweetest driver I can remember, unfortunately it has become quite difficult for me (84 years) to exit the cockpit, so I guess I'll have to sell my sweetie, sad.

Well done Morgan USA

Well done MMC for rectifying the error, pleased you have a car you can have confidence in.

Micheal,

You had cracks at the same place ??
I thought you had your broken chassis in the upper part of your chassis.
This cracks are where the LOWER wishbone is attached to the chassis.
Do you have pictures from that same place of your cracked chassis ?
MMC told us that there never have been cracks in this place before.

Lets hope it's not an undiscovered case of "They all do that Sir..."

Laurens,

One of the cracks was on the lower wishbone mount. Much like displayed here. Not totally broken. My upper crack was totally sheered.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

Why am I sceptical that it's the first one they've seen ?

Have other owners have been advised by their dealers to check this area ?

I had a replacement chassis & car was returned June 2017. Mine failed RHS behind the top suspension mount. The replacement chassis has the lower mount as Rog's broken unmodified version.
Rog did you get a new chassis or a repair?

My chassis was also gracked in the same position as Roger's but on the other side (i.e. the left hand side). Mileage to date 16,140. Roger spotted the crack on my car whilst on the Goggles & Gauntlets rally.

MMC repaired mine yesterday with the same method they have used on Roger's. Their reaction was very good but unfortunately they (MMC) cannot give any sort of absolute guarantee on this repair.

Only time will tell if the repair is satisfactory or if the stress point is just moved to somewhere else.

What worries me is that when cracks first start to form they are not visible to the naked eye and have to progress some way before they can be seen easily.

All owners of up to the end of 2013 cars should check their chassis carefully.

... and mine goes to MMC next Thursday for the same repair. I was blissfully unaware, but had noticed a more obvious 'wandering' from the steering and thought little more of it, seeing as the car gets thrown around on the disgraceful British roads all the time. Turns out my spiral fracture is pretty big and needs fixed somewhat urgently. Hopefully this is all they find when I get it up to them.
