I also got two sets of ex SLR wheels and tyres as a wedding present thanks to the FIA....

On my 4/4 Anniversary with 185/70s there was no rub.
On my Plus4 with the same tyre size there is rub. When I fit the Mulfab steering bearings I'll take a view.
It might be possible to squeeze a section of the tube in my vice. It only needs 2 or 3mm to provide clearance over about four inches length. (Sorry to mix metric/ imperial).
I have some rollers in stock but I'd rather not fit them.

I have them fitted to my 4/4 .The car is fitted with two litre 185 bhp zetec.They have definitely made a difference.
Had no problem with rubbing.
But I do drive spirited! Leaving aside the tyre rubbing on full lock issue for a moment, what exactly are the symptoms that they supposedly alleviate..? I'm not a last minute or hard braker, so I've never felt the difference between the 4/4 (without) and the Roadster (with) although subjectively, the Roadster feels more planted under braking. If you haven't got the bracing effect, I'd guess you'd experience a wander through the steering at peak braking which would lead on to all sorts of driver reactions. Would this be the effect..?

For me (a none expert on such systems) they give me a piece of mind in an emergency braking situation and are very inexpensive, my wheels do touch slightly on a full lock (4/4); but how often do you engage full lock.

I need full lock to get in and out of my garage!
I think the reaction bars just help to suppress judder under braking. I doubt it makes much difference on the road.

So they work  So why all the not needed in normal road use nonsense  There are many things we can do without on cars if driven gently, but if something is available at moderate cost that works even if just on paper, then why not grab it, assuming in this case, its designed and fitted properly to avoid the steering lock issues.

That has been my experience with my 4/4. I owned it for a while before I fitted brake reaction bars, and your description of feeling more 'planted' under hard braking fits my experience exactly. Do they make a massive difference under normal driving? No. Are they a must have? No. Is it a problem if they rub at full lock? No. But they are cheap and easy to fit, and could help stabilise the steering in a situation where one is braking very hard.

Although the upper mounting point is fixed, the wider front frame moves the chassis mounting point slightly forward.
Add to this the fact that 4/4, Plus4 and Roadster wire wheels have slightly different offset.
The 4/4 has least offset and so runs closer to the upper spring mounting. Given that the end of the reaction bar is well back on the chassis, with 185/70s on a 4/4 there may be clearance issues on the upper spring mount and rubbing on the sidewall.
Adjustment of the chassis mount point is limited!
