Tinkering with the Roadster yesterday and a had the chance to measure the later version of the alloy tank the factory fit
I cubed it up (deducting the chamfer to the rear edge) and got 90 lts, that's over 19 gallons ! way over what I expected and what the MMC quote
Even though you'll never fill it to brim full with the airlocks, it gives a useful boost to range - although the 90 odd kg of weight is a lot to lug around

That is a big tank and to be honest, I'm somewhat surprised as that is almost double what I have on my car. I know mine is a 4/4 but I would have thought all the Trads would be similarish.
I'd double check the measurements and I'll wait now for loads of people to tell me you are correct and that I'm being presumptuous.

My '76 4/4 was circa 45 litres. The present '93 is around 50+ litres. But, they are both standard fit tanks from MMC.

My ‘93 4/4 was 55 litres or 12 gal. Dimensions measured and calculated volume. I was flushing the tank due to crud buggering the pump so did some extras...measured tank, new pipework/pump/extra filter. Also refilled with 1gal to check the gauge reading for reference (it was just touching the “E” with 1 gal.
19 gal seems a huge tank! TOK had a big tank for LeMans but in a production car? WOW!

Even though you'll never fill it to brim full with the airlocks, it gives a useful boost to range - although the 90 odd kg of weight is a lot to lug around As someone who makes an awful lot of Morgan fuel tanks, you can’t fit a 90 ltr tank in without modifying the wood for the spare wheel support 90 ltrs pretty much fills the volume of the body behind the rear axle I did make a one off stainless steel tank that size for the factory for a customer who wanted to long distance tour in his new Baby Doll Stock tank is about 55 ltrs and I don’t think the factory will have changed it I’ve got the dimensions at the workshop Simon @ SiFab.co.uk

Yes my 2014 4/4 is 55 litre and my 2011 +4 Supersport is 55 litre

My 2001 4/4 states 50 litres or 11imp Gallons in the instruction manual.
I believed less as when the gauge show half ful, I can fill maybe 17 or 18 litres.
But its very interestng to see the investigating other forum member ar doing.

About 12.5 Imp gallons who knows  I just fill it at 200miles and get 23mpg if I behave.

The factory used to produce a "Sebring" tank which was reputed to hold 19 gallons or 86 litres, but I think this could have been US gallons in which case it would have been closer to 15.8 Imp Gallons or 72 litres.
I had one of these on my Plus 4 racer , and when full it transformed the car from mild understeer to dominant oversteer, when cornering at any decent pace.
It was useful for long distance touring of course as Simon points out.
My 1999 +8 has a 45 litre tank but I have never been able to get more than 41 litres in it, even after travelling for 60 to 70 miles after hitting empty on the gauge.
BTW Jon , 90 litres of petrol will not weigh 90 kilos, quite a bit less due to the specific gravity.
