When I first got my Aero (series 3) the steering used to make a loud creaking/grating sound, it turned out to be one of the panels under the engine creaking, it was removed, cleaned and refitted, problem solved.

Ex biker. Thanks for note. The dealer has removed all the panels to inspect and put back. All they can say is the noise comes from within the rack - and that is not modular. Which is why they have recommended a whole new rack.

Graham- don’t suppose you’ve seen an Aero steering rack hanging about the factory? Not this week anyway, but then I haven't been there. We're not normally allowed in either stores.

Graham- don’t suppose you’ve seen an Aero steering rack hanging about the factory? Not this week anyway, but then I haven't been there. We're not normally allowed in either stores. Especially the one where they keep the sausage rolls....

It's a BMW rack in the S2 onwards. Can you get a part number off of the rack?

Simon- any idea where that might be located? Sorry, no idea. There'll probably be a sticker on the rack somewhere Chances are it's a 5 series rack, but which version/model I don't know Simon @ SiFab.co.uk
