I had one fitted a few thousand miles ago as my Plus 4 has the ground clearance of a snake's belly.

It certainly has seen some action as the many scuffs and scrapes testify.

Peace of mind is a big factor for me, I'm sure it prevents damage but even if it doesn't, when I hear (and feel) that dreaded scrape I now feel just a tad less worried.

This skid plate seems a great idea so I will too have to get with it. What I found very interesting in all the pictures you clever chaps have provided is that the cross chassis brake pipe is shown in the position that I had to have mine moved to by a local engineering company.
Mine was fitted to the lower edge of the cross member and was damaged on a club run was driving around on our wonderful roads.
