I purchased one at Blenheim from BHM. Excellent quality as you would expect from Cain!

It should have been a half hour job, but you know how these things pan out...........................
Nice etched logo which I have fitted facing forward, and it comes with two allen headed countersunk machine screws and a drill bit........
What could possibly go wrong.



I don't have a G clamp small enough to hold the piece, but cable ties are good enough!
Get it level!!



Obviously the Morgan needs lifting quite a way. Even so I had to take some covers off the pit to get the drill in position.



The cross-member is thick and so takes time to drill through. If you wish to protect the gearbox casing, insert either a piece of wood, or metal above the cross-member to take the force out of the drill as it comes through.

On the second hole, just at the point of penetration, the bit stuck, and the end broke off...... Not a disaster as I have other drills, but access was tight, and my affliction of positional vertigo makes it quite hard to move about under the Morgan without the world spinning.................

Then more trouble loomed. I dropped one of the machine screws into the pit, and it did one of those trans-dimensional shifts. It vanished......... Half an hour later and losing patience I had to give up. It had gone................

A quick message to the Cain-meister, and a replacement was in the post.........

So today I finished the half hour job........









The quality is superb. Yes I could have made one, but it wouldn't have been as good as this.

I probably won't fit one to my Roadster because the sump is much lower than this, but a worthwhile addition for 4/4 and Plus 4.

Well done Dave I had mine fitted when the car was being serviced .

I had BHM fit one to my Plus 8 at the last service. It feels much less worrying when I hit a speed bump now.

Fitted one just before our trip to Le Mans Classique. A very well made piece of kit which proved its worth during the trip, with me and the Mrs. and luggage on board there is not much clearance.
Leaving the hotel car park in Il de Re, it caught the bottom and actually dented the plate (I was going very gently). Two days later it hit a speed bump in the Medoc and then again entering a car park in St. Emilion.
The plate does actually decrease the ground clearance very slightly, but I was very glad I had fitted it.
Dave, the underside of your car looks as if it just left the factory or maybe even cleaner.

Well two years on I think the regular soaking when driving in rain has helped!!!! The underside does stay remarkably clean, even after 6,500 miles.............
SBM's looks even cleaner.........

I imagine that these skid plates reduce the ground clearance quite a lot.

It only reduces the clearance by the thickness of the plate, maybe 5 or 6mm.

The issue is that if you ground the cross-member, which is an inverted U, sometimes the Morgan will get stuck. This plate makes it far less likely to get stuck on a hump.

Clean is good MM!!

Just out of interest, if the function is to slide the car up and over the obstacle rather than hit it head on, wouldn't a thin sheet of aluminium achieve that?
Am I being awfully naive?
