Is it just me or do others go through the love it hate it phase ? Last week drove to Oxford for meeting early morning. Felt fed up with it there and back. Noisy, bone shaking thing. Me swearing at it and road every time I hit a rough patch or pot hole. Felt hot and sweaty in traffic. Planning in my mind how to get out of it without losing a ton of money.
Then today, I decided I liked it again. For no apparent reason. Legged it up to Ludlow for meeting, caned it up A49, overtook everything and as I peered down the long bonnet I actually smiled again.
Last night I wrote and took pictures ready to flog it. Now I’m not sure. I do drive it a lot. 5800 miles since February this year. Maybe I am driving it to much.
Any comments, rude or not appreciated.

It's not just you. It's all about understanding what the car is good at, and then being disciplined about using the right tool for the job. In other words, using your other car(s) for journeys that would be a pain in the Morgan. That's my solution. I'm sure you will get other answers from the hair-shirt brigade ("it's worth suffering - it's a Morgan") or the hairy-chested club ("I'm so hard, I don't notice the discomfort, rain etc")

Mine was a daily driver until my commute changed from 8 miles on quiet country roads to 40 miles up the M3 when I got something more appropriate for that. While I had a short daily journey i used to enjoy the occasinal longer ones to visit customers in the mog. Fortunately I don't do that any more.
Now the Mog is the car used on longer journeys but they are journeys for pleasure not work.

I think it also depends on why you bought it in the first place and how much you paid for it (relative to your wealth)
I bought my older 4/4 for relatively little money with the express intention of having fun and playing with the car to improve it.
When I drove it away from the dealer my initial thought was OMG what have I done.
It didn't handle very well at all, wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, would never get up to operating temperature, had bumps, bangs and rattles all over the place and various things didn't work.
Had I paid a lot of money and expected it to be great car straight out of the box, I would have been hugely disappointed and spent the journey home thinking about how I would explain to SWMBO that I had made a big mistake and that it was going to cost a good few bob to get out of it.
As it is I have had 18 months making it do what I want it to do and planning for the future with it.
I love it every time I drive it because if I discover something else I don't like, it gives me great pleasure thinking how I'm going to sort it.
So my Mog is everything I wanted and I'm excited by the pleasure of owning it and the opportunities for future enjoyment. And My Wife absolutely gets that.
As I said It depends why you bought it in the first place and does it fulfil those desires??

I don't think i'm either a hair-shirt or hairy chest club member. I guess i don't drive nearly as much as - in 2.5 years i have done just 7,000 miles. Due simply because i don't trust my work car park , or to be fair, any car park where the general public can play dodgems in kIAS.
Fed up with it? Honestly no. Every trip and chance to drive it is a treat in my eyes and i feel so lucky to own one. But then again i'm likely in the "go to garage at stare at Morgan" club because i do that quite a lot too.
Never felt like that about any other car.
I'd think very hard before you sell it on.

I have absolutely no problem using a tin-top when it makes more sense, but often I find it's my mood rather than the Morgan that causes me to react to it differently. Some days it's a bit of a pain, most days it's a total joy. But it's never characterless and boring.

I have always wanted one have never felt uncomfortable driving it even sitting near stationary on the m25 for two hours in 30 degrees the other day! I look forward to getting in it. My therapy machine.

Having waited over forty years before owning my first one it has been a long standing love affair three cars, 14 years and 60,000 + miles on love still blossoms. There is nothing quite like them  .

Sounds more like the corporate rat race thing.
Not sure an expensive, packed comuter train would improve the mood.

Only you can answer that!! This is a very insightful post, Bob. Like you, I didn't pay much (comparatively) for my car, and I never expected it to be perfect: quite the reverse, in fact. I too see 'problems with the car' as 'opportunities to improve it'. To my mind, these cars repay a close involvement from the owner, and the closer the better.
