No problem Dan, I think we are all getting a bit that way...

Just arrived home in Switzerland with our two M3W’s after they got as first ones the chassis reinforcements at MMC.
We trusted the offered solution by MMC so much that we didn’t checked the chassis during this 1000 miles trip.
We don’t want to spoil our fun in driving these machines by looking for chassis cracks at every coffee stop. If we need to start doing that, it’s better to stop driving them.
Are this older M3W’s a bigger risk in driving them ? Probably to a small amount.
How big or small this risk is, no one knows.
Driving a M3W is taking a risk anytime (see for example the accident Red Three had when aquaplaning).
I’m wondering why the ones NOT owning a M3W making almost the most posts on this subject.
If it was positive feedback or a possible solution to this problem it would be appreciated but all the rest ………

Welcome home Laurens and good to hear all went well with your trip.

Clearly the chassis cracking issue has become a very hot topic on TM and for good reason.

It covers not only the specific area of M3W componentry, function and safety but issues of how Morgan is managing customer problems.

The first part of course is M3W driver specific and owners have been vocal but the second concerns all of us – it is in fact the nub of the issue.

Most of us won’t get too worried when confronted with a vehicle fault, that happens, but the approach of the vendor/manufacturer to a fix or resolution can be a real problem.

M3W owners can be forgiven as the position has become very clouded. You just have to read MPH’s response to HJP dated July 15th 2018 in this thread.

What seems clear is that M3W issues have become safety concerns.

Owners have already stated they are doing regular checks which I agree is a ridiculous position for a new vehicle but appear necessary.

Each owner will do their own risk assessment and go from there.

Interestingly, some owners have privately expressed their views as follows:-

What do I do – it’s a new car with problems and I have to rely on Morgan for a fix or risk my warranty. Beyond warranty I still need Morgan for parts and what could be expensive and substantial upgrades. I hope I’m getting the full story and a proper long term remedy.

Sorry Laurens , I wish I could provide some positive feedback. I do not know the motivations of non M3W posters other than I suspect they share my concerns on both Morgan product and customer service.

On the subject of a resolution I thought my posts have been clear but for the avoidance of any doubt:-

1) An independent engineering evaluation of the M3W I is urgently required
2) That evaluation is best done by the relevant government motoring authority
3) This process was very successful in Australia on an issue of much less significance

4) Notification to your chosen authority can be done as an individual or a group. It should be clear and evidence based.
5) Recognise potential complications given these vehicles are sold across a range of jurisdictions and Morgan will probably not submit to an evaluation voluntarily.
