My wife and I had the honor of meeting Will Freeman on his way though New Jersey today. Had a wonderful visit with him over lunch before sending him on his way later in the afternoon toward south Jersey. He's about 13,000 miles in to his trip so far with about 3 weeks to go. The M3W has been running fine. No issues other than the fuel pump problems previously mentioned, which he attributes to heat problems with the fuel lines near the engine causing fuel temperature rise, subsequently impacting the pump. Once the lines near the engine were insulated, all seems fine. His visit also gave me the opportunity to hear side-by-side the stock exhaust vs. the stage-1 pipes (which my car has) fir the first time. Wow. More of a difference than I was expecting. In any event, the man is on an epic journey, and we wish him well on his remaining states! Follow his blog at: http://www.m3wroadtrip.com/ Confirming the route The man himself! Probably the only two M3Ws in New Jersey at this time, gathered on this side of my pond: Safe travels WilL!

From: https://www.grinnell.edu/news/professor-will-freeman-travel-18000-miles-80-days-3-wheeler"Professor Will Freeman will launch an 18,000-mile summer journey through all 48 contiguous states in a Morgan 3 Wheeler following commencement ceremonies at Grinnell College on Monday, May 21, 2018.
His purpose? To rediscover the power of the road trip and how it influences people in the tradition of John Steinbeck’s Travels with Charley, Jack Keroauc’s On the Road, and William Least Heat-Moon’s Blue Highways.
Throughout the trip, Freeman, 63, will take photos and collect stories of life journeys from individuals, including Grinnell alumni, he meets along his way. The photos and stories will form the basis of his new book, which will also explore the monuments, national parks, and historical and spiritual sites he encounters during the trip. He will post photos and an account of each day on his blog."

Great progress so far - what a brave chap on those roads. Interesting route he's taking. His students worked on developing it with a route that would meet the following criteria: - Visit all 48 contiguous states - Avoid big cities - Two lane highways only - No chain hotels or food, only Mom and Pop places - See historic places - See unique places - See national parks - See landmarks

I can tell you based on the route map that he is either taking A1A or US1 south through Florida and each of those has greater than 2 lane road sections. He isnt taking the major highways, but he certainly isnt going the true side roads. You need to get away from the coast to get anything like that anymore other than sections of A1A. Assuming he is taking US17 down from Savannah also greater than 2 lanes in sections. 202 from Yulee to Amelia island is greater than 2 lane. I could go on, but you get the point. Had he really wanted to avoid greater than 2 lanes he could have, but the trip would take an eternity as most of those roads are max 35 (through towns) and max 45MPH or 55MPH in sections outside of towns.
