Iām thinking of upgrading my header tank to the alloy one, has anyone fitted one and encountered any problems ie fitting or leaking issues. I have no issues with the current plastic tank, I just love the look of the Alloy one š

craig l have one fitted to my +8 it is a square polished alloy tank that has the smaller rad cap, this enabled me to fit a cap with a built in temp gauge , it also allows for a greater capacity .

Jays has one on his Roadster and it's best if he relates the fitting story as I recall there was a problem which Williams had to sort out before it would fit. I'm sure that will have been rectified now though.

Yes Richard! The first tank would not fit my Roadster as the inlet pipes were at the wrong angle. Williams redesigned the tank for the Roadster and it fits perfectly. I think the original is fine for the 4/4 and Plus 4 Aās the pipe angles are less severe/cramped than the Roadster. A nice bit of kit that looks better than the plastic tank and is easy to fit.

I fitted one of these recently. The mounting brackets did not coincide with those of the plastic tank and would have left the alloy tank very skew whiff. I had to drill two new mounting holes through the bulkhead and put in a couple of M8 threaded aluminium rivet nut inserts (because you cannot get to the inside easily to use a nut and bolt), and then secure the tank with two M8 stainless bolts. It wasn't too difficult but you do need a rivet nut setting tool - all available on Amazon. I didn't have much trouble with the pipes though one had to be shortened slightly. I had to change the original pipe clamps for stainless steel jubilee clips because the old clamps would not seat properly after being moved and they leaked. It looks very nice.
Hope this helps.

John, is that header tank still doing its job? And could you please post a picture of the whole engine bay - just to get a better impression of what it looks like in the engine bay...

Excellent work Craig. Reminds me of "Rain Man": Raymond: Very shiny train. Charlie: Yeah, sure is.
