I know, this was discussed earlier, but I do not find the thread. I have this rattling noise just behind my neck (like a loose screw or bolt) but I don't find the source. Where to find and what to do?

Open boot, remove plastic tray to access the rear. Look around. After my chassis rebuild the right-hand roll hoop is bolted down and will not leave but it rattles. Look for any loose bolts in the rear as the sound will easily travel through the seat-belt hole.

I have learned to do this at least twice a year as things get loose.

What type of hood do you have? If the classic stud type not easy up then check how secure the hoops are. Mine are held down when the hood is not needed by leather straps and rattled until I discovered the straps not fastened.

This is usually the rollover valve (6) in the fuel system rattling as its not well supported.

It can usually be silenced by using a plastic cable tie to hold it firmly against another pipe.

It is the rollover valve. You can flick it with your finger and hear something loose in it rattle. I’ve try insulating with foam and stabilizing with strong zip ties. Perhaps alittle better but I still hear it sometimes . The x wedge generates a lot of vibrations that cause it to rattle.

Having the same problem.
What’s the function of this valve ? Venting the fuel tank ?
Can’t we change this to something similar what’s not rattling ?

I have tried everything from tying it down with zip ties, plus wrapping it with everything from bubble wrap to orthopedic wrap, and the noise persists, which is hugely annoying in an otherwise hugely fun ride.
If anyone can opine on the possibility of just removing the offending piece and doing an end-to end anastomosis on the tubing, I would appreciate your comments. Preferably not theories, but someone who has actually done the valvulectomy.
Thank you.

The valves relieve fuel tank pressure and prevent fuel flow through the fuel tank vent hoses in the event of vehicle rollover. ... If the vehicle should roll over, the valve is inverted and the plunger is forced against the guideplate, preventing fuel from flowing through the vent tube.
