It happens. We just laugh it off, and rarely stop. What fun! Yep. Coming back from France last year the weather was fine when I came off the tunnel. It started to rain just as I passed Chievely services on the M4 and by the time I got to the Swindon junction I was absolutely drenched. There wasn't any point in stopping, so I just carried on, laughing all the way. After all, human skin is 100% waterproof, so you never get really wet. Had the same issue coming back from sailing with my grandson. A sprinkle of drops on the screen, so I slowed down to 30 mph, pressed the button, and 13 secs later the hood was up and latched. When your grandson is your age, I wonder what he would remember the most? The day that his Grandad pressed a button and made the car roof work, or the day that Grandad drove home in the rain with the roof down, laughing as they kept the speed just high enough to stay (almost) dry as the rain deflected over them? Ps - don't stop posting here Howard, despite what others might say. We all live in little self-affirming bubbles and we need to hear contrary views whether we want to or not.

I can see it being advantageous in a hailstorm though Tim! And if I felt that was an event that would occur frequently enough to be concerned about, then yes, it would be useful. But in 40 years of driving I can count the number of times it's actually happened on my fingers. No problem simply to pull over and put an umbrella up if it gets really bad.

Except on a dual carriageway with a lack of lay byes (been there! ). Fortunately my exit was only 3 miles further on. An exfoliating experience

Howard, you can be a cantankerous sod sometimes , but I do enjoy your contributions, even if I don’t always agree! you actually come across as quite youthful. This was a very painful hailstorm, half soaked already while driving, in the five seconds it took to chuck the roof on, I was wet from head to toe. I’ve had more memories of trips in my morgan than all the other cars I’ve even owned. In a morgan, you’ll experience something, why would you want to experience nothing?

I wonder how well i’d be received if I went onto the Jaguar forum and said that my Morgan is better because it has more luggage space than an F type? (a quote from an F type owner recently)

Every opinion imaginable is on the internet, they can’t all be right, but they could all be wrong. The only one which matters is your own.

From my point of view as a rather peripheral member, if I may say so, it is an interesting phenomenon when a forum around a particular car brand has a long-standing participant who actually still has open questions about this brand. And what I also believe is that regardless of the brand, TM is a platform that enables the exchange of ideas in a very polite, respectful and friendly way. Of course, this only works if each individual contributes in this way. From my point of view all participants try that again and again...and posts that are not perfect can happen to anyone. When I speak only for myself, I find it an enrichment when Howard, as a non-brand participant, is a long-time and loyal member. And please keep posting here, Howard.
What I think made it a bit sensitive here yesterday was that it seemed as if the post mentioned did not focus on open questions about the brand, but rather on a rather trivial criticism of the tightness of the roof from the point of view of today's perfect technical designs. And that, of course, is not fair to a Morgan and its proud owner, and it could indeed be an indication that this kind of criticism leads to the question of whether here the essence of the Morgan has been understood emotionally or even rationally. And there I can understand if it tips over in the reactions, and that real Morgan drivers react to such (unfortunate) criticism with incomprehension.
On the other hand, I experience it as completely original and friendly status that someone who struggles with the brand, feels comfortable here, contributes a lot worth reading and gives the forum another splash of colour.
Sorry for the long text, but as a long-time companion, albeit rather peripheral, I took the liberty of expressing my thoughts, as it is dear to my heart.
To sum it up, please get along with each other again, it is worth the common joy.

I wonder how well i’d be received if I went onto the Jaguar forum and said that my Morgan is better because it has more luggage space than an F type? (a quote from an F type owner recently) My wife's handbag ( well her carry on luggage really) has near as much luggage space as the F type. I come on here because you are a nice bunch of people even if some of you take your choice of toy car far too seriously. It's a toy, you aren't married to it! And I don't take myself seriously so neither should you take my comments seriously. Hamwich photo in post 2 surely has to appeal to your sense of the ridiculous. Lighten up.
