I frequently get the newsletter of this seller. This car looks quite good, tasteful and unique to me. (No I will not buy her, I just have a nice read). Given the money invested over the last years the price tag could be reasonable. I‘m only wondering if the 1968 Plus 8 were narrower than this car.

If the chassis number (R7662) is right, surely that's way after 1968?

It is a beauty Heinz and it was built by a TM member (Stateside) his handle escapes me at the moment, we have seen this car as a work in progress, he said he would probably be selling a while back as essentially he is a creator of fine things.

The wings do look wide for a 68 model but that could just be the unusual colour.

I dont know what this is but its not a 1968. My +8 is 1970 and is R7228. The ID plate is fabricated..Morgans of that era didnt have any Id other than the chassis number and engine number.
It says the shifter is modified...if its 1968 it had a Moss box...no mods required.

Thanks for so good background info, Richard. Anyway so it is a lovely 1972 MY car with just a small error in the description. With the knowledge about who has built the car and that he is an enthusiast, plus the engine being rebuilt at Morgan West, home of Moggirl, she must be a very good purchase without hiding any bad surprise. She has deserved to find the right new owner.

This dealer always is way above the top prices, have a look at the older Ferraris he is offering on his site. It’s all a matter of negotiation. But nevertheless I like this 1972 Plus 8.

Absolutely right Heinz I would have it in a heartbeat had I the spare funds but 1 V8 in this household is all I will be getting away with.

If someone is after an authentic model of the time there are loads out there - this to my mind is totally unique and a wonderful example of the finest craftsmanship + Bill's + Tcherek's inputs of course. Thanks for flagging it up .

To my knowledge only 12 cars actually left the factory in 1968.. R7012 being the last for car 1968, I have one of the 12 cars.

R7662 would not be a 68 car but a 1973 car.

I think the only registered 1968 cars in the UK at the present time are chassis numbers
R7001, R7003, R7006, R7010, and R7011 anyone know of any others?

You could check this register for some more, which is where 1972 is stated for the OP.

Heinz, I am actually not at Morgan West - they are the So California dealership. I'm up north in San Francisco. I have never seen this car, although it appears to be located in Emeryville which is local to the Bay Area. The oldest Plus 8 I am aware of local to me (other than my dad's +8 - not going to find one older than his anywhere) is a 1970 model, Chassis #R7194 (incidentally, this car also has a plaque.) The owner (who sadly has recently passed away) drove his Morgans regularly, brought them often to Morgan club events, yet lavished them with so much care that to this day they are practically pristine. I have heard that this car might be looking for a new home. Trouble is most buyers here are afraid of the RHD. Since I learned to drive a stick in a Morris Minor, this strikes me as a tad unreasonable (although I admit I always felt more comfortable with RHD myself - now I am shamefully fond of automatics but still scoff at others who share my preference.)
