GoMog is indeed a very valuable technical resource. However, the owner's record on contemporary Morgan matters has not always been so reliable. The previous forum, Mogwire, was heavily tainted by an undisguised personal antipathy towards MMC and closed abruptly a few years ago.

I hadn't realised there had been an attempt to resurrect the forum but based on previous experience I will treat anything reported there with suitable scepticism.

They might be stopping the 4/4 in France but expect they will keep it going for as long as they can here..

Also note BHM have also launched a special 4/4 called the Kent.. maybe the French dealer is doing similar.

I think Lorne is conflating two different issues:

Short term - the Sigma 1.6l Ford engine in the 4/4 does not meet new emissions regs, so is being withdrawn. Opportunistically, some dealers have grabbed the last production slots to concoct some 'special edition' spec cars.

Further out - MMC have accepted the inevitable and admitted publicly that the Edwardian Bedstead that underpins the current Trad will, over time, be replaced by a bonded aluminium tub like the Radshape-made aero chassis.

I think the imminent death of the Trad stories will prove overblown imho.

Quite amazing how a statement by a dealer in one country gets blown out of proportion.

Nearly there Stuart - the Sigma engine will not meet EU emissions regs from Sept 1st. However, the 4/4 with Sigma will still be available to "rest of world" markets.

Andy and Tim are quite correct re: Ian's comments on a certain personality. smile

The Ford V6 is still fitted to some other cars in their range in the USA, for the present, even though it is no longer fitted to the Mustang. All the info re: Sigma and 3.7 is out there in Ford forums and www

All very interesting but, in the real world how many of us care? Having over the years bought 3 new Morgans ( and loved them ) I will certainly not be buying another so if the aero chassis is the way to go then the price has got to come way down to get new, younger buyers into the brand.
I thought of the Weismann which was a very nice car, sort of up dated Healey ( sorry Steve T ) but it couldn't get enough orders to sustain it and I think there must be others who have tried and failed, Naylor/Hutson tried with an updated MG TF.
Whatever the truth, I wish the factory nothing but good fortune but I will now own a "real Classic" Howard. wink
