My gearbox remote is touching the propshaft. Is it caused by the black rubber bushes or just the bolts that have loosened? Can it be fixed with the gearbox in situ or do I have to take it out?
Many thanks.

It would sound like you'd need to remove the gearbox cover at the very least to assess what the situation

Dirk, As John v6 says, check Gomog, no need to remove geabox, all done from the top except undoing the seat bolts. The propshaft cover overlaps the gearbox cover with a small lip so needs to be at least lifted at the front or removed. Be sure to replace bushes with Polyurethane ones which won't go squidgy.

I did this job on my '92 plus4. Not difficult but teadious and cramped. What a relief to find out that it was the rubber bushes going squidgy and not a mashed gearbox!

Thanks for the advice guys.

I've ordered the poly bushes and solved the problem temporarily.

The polyurethane bushes arrived in the post today.

That will be the job to do the following days.

Today was the big day.

How to change the rubber bushes on the LT77 gearbox

New type of door stays:

Taken the seats and carpets out:

The propshaft tunnel out:

There are 2 screws from the gearbox cover under the propshaft tunnel:

The handbrake had to be removed:

The new polyurathane bushes in place (I had to ad 2 washers to increase their height:

Refitting the handbrake:

Job done!

These caused the problem:

Changing gears is razor sharp again!

- nice job Dirk thumbs

I had to smile at your 'door stays' as that is the method I use when working on the Aero, albeit with the ends around a wheel spoke /door handle...
