Hello all! My name's Scott and I'm the new guy on campus here...I live in Alabama, a southerly state in the great country of the United States. In what little perusal I've done on the site, it doesn't look like there's a large contingent of American people here on Talk Morgan - but then, that would make sense as I've only ever seen one Morgan in 4 years here in the States. If y'all know of anyone that I could get in touch with to let me know who might own one of these great cars anywhere near me, I'd love to learn of them so I could link up with some people.
...as to why I joined Talk Morgan...

I've had an affinity for Morgans ever since I saw a Plus 8 on an old TV show I used to watch with my grandfather. I immediately Googled it and found out what kind of car it was, etc. it's downhill from there. That was a mere four years ago, and the obsession has only worsened. I'm 18 now and would like nothing more than to be driving a 4/4 Sport back here in the States.

I'm not new to "British Iron" as it were - as I'm the proud owner of a 1966 MGB -and, say what you will about the marque, as I'm not sure what the current relations are between MG and Morgan owners but the car's been nothing but great for me, and I rely on it daily to meet my transportation needs.

As you may have guessed, not having introduced what Morgan I owned or whatever proper protocol is...I don't own a Morgan...yet. As I'm 18 now, I think if I did indeed own one, I might be one of the youngest owners in history! They're not exactly cars that people of my economic stature(University student...) can readily afford.
However, in 3-4 years I will turn 21, and thanks to some work with and through my parents, I plan to take delivery of a 4/4 Sport sometime on or near my 21st birthday. It will vary slightly depending on finances ...and...worst of all, import/export laws that the U.S has, but it should fall somewhere in there.
Until then, I plan on making a trip to Malvern to check out the operation and test drive a few of what I believe to be the most eloquently hand crafted automobiles in the world.

I hope I'm able to learn a lot through this Forum and meet some great owners of this marque.

this is a good forum for getting information on any Morgan that you may eventually own in the future.
I have seen post on here from Americans but cant remember who they were.
You would have to search the archives and maybe might stumble on them?
Its best if you just log in and check out every thing and look and learn.
I live in Australia in a state about the size of yours and belong to a local motor club. You could do the same in your state?
In my area I am one of three other Morgans that I know off, so we are pretty thin on the ground in the Mid north coast of New South Wales.
Anyway, have fun on here and dont be backward in coming forward with news or questions , lots of assistance on here weather you are young or old like me.

There are a few MG owners (or former owners) here, so don't worry about that. Primarliy it's a Morgan site, but as you check other parts of the forum you'll find there's also interest in other motoring...

Good luck with a 4/4 Sport - didn't know the new 'Traditional' range of cars was available in the USA.

Just for the little story... I was 17 years old when I first saw a Morgan. At the age of 48, I was able to get me one. ...so much waiting time

...as for the new 'Traditional' range being available here in the States - I'm not so sure it even is yet. however, with the proper application of both time and money, there should be no reason I couldn't bring one over.

did some search on Moggies for sale in USofA,
you better start looking for a PlusEight that is already running in the US,
you can forget importing a "new" Trad, as they are simply motorised trailers for the US-law

what you might want to try to follow is the three-wheeler scene,
it is unsafe, but hack, look at it as if it were a motorcycle,
and you'll feel fine :-)
and those should be US-legal

U.S. homologation and regulation has killed the importation of the classic range into the country. The 11 Morgan Aeromaxs that went to the USA, were brought over using the Show and Display law (annual mileage shall not exceed 2,500 miles and, technically, those miles should only be on the way, or returning from a show or static display location).

Cars that are already in the USA would be a better bet as I cannot imagine you will have any luck bringing a new classic Morgan into the USA without having to jump through the S&D loop hole.

As your state has a namesake of my own city I can only hope that the laws are relaxed! Come on, Bill Gates, throw your weight around...

I wonder if one might buy an old trad already in the USA, and send it to Blighty for a total restoration, thereby re-importing a mint, um, fully restored Morgan. I'm sure that's been done to get MGBV8's into the US.
