Robbie, we could easily take you up on that as neither myself nor Mrs KenA have ever been to the emerald isle. I have SSL on the front but the factory standard (now knackerd) at the rear. Can you advise what exactly you have at the rear?

Ken A. I have the SSL kit at the back fitted by Williams in Bristol a year and a half ago. It is the standard SSL 5 link kit with Non-adjustable dampers which were set for the car. Cheers!

Ken
I have just gone for the 5L rear suspension with adjustable Spax dampers , as recommended by Peter Ballard for my car and style of driving. He also specced the ride height settings.
The conversion is not for the faint hearted, as my battery and several anciliaries required moving, as mine turned out to be an "interim" car (aren't they all though?) with the battery on the "wrong" side.
I will write this all up when I have done some more optimisation work.
I have not played around with the damper settings yet, but even set up quite "hard" the ride is an enormous improvement, but perhaps the most noticeable difference is the much better turn-in. It really is the first thing that strikes you as you drive away. The car reacts almost telepathically to steering input.
I am sure that a trip to the Emerald Isle to see Robbie's car would be a wonderful experience , but if you want to try one a bit closer I live in SE London, and quite often go down to BHM.

Andy, just caught up with this thread. We have decided to try and make a visit to Robbie, but notwithstanding this I would be very happy to meet up, say at BHM sometime for a chance to get your opinions first hand. Once we have arranged the Irish visit I will contact you again. Many thanks,

Andy G have you fitted the five link to your plus 8 ? As I am convinced re the SSL front end but was wondering about the extra investment for the back set up. And your car is of similar age to mine.

You should find less flexing & better road holding with the Panhard rod & the stays. Let us know next year what you think.

Poor road holding, especially on uneven roads, were the trigger for the modifications. They were carried out by Morgan Austria. The people there used to tune cars for motor sports. After I have described my experiences to the road handling, the modifications took place on basis of their recommendations, to which I have fullest confidence. I'm very excited about the changed handling myself.
