Good morning gentlemen. I need to replace an axle bearing. It is a BTR, non slip diff, fitted to an '04 4/4. Could anyone point me toward a 'how to guide' or supply relevant torque settings (if they exist). Also how much clearance do I need to remove the drive shaft. The garage is only eight and half feet wide and I don't want to find I have to knock a hole in the wall to get it out  . I have looked on Gomog but cannot find the relevant info. Thanks.

I have never found torque settings for either Salisbury or BTR. About all the guidance I could get was to tighten it very tight and than move it enough to get the cotter key into place. I have never had the axle nut off My BTR. But I have had them off and on of several Salisbury's.

There has been a thread about this job fairly recently - try the TM search facility, if you have no success Google is pretty good at finding TM threads some of us have found.

Well done, I just put the picture of the axle up to give the OP a good guide as to the clearance needed to pull the drive shaft out by dimensioning up.
I'm not familiar with the morgantica site, Google found it for me.

Unless I have missed something you will need at least half the width of the car from the wheel arch to remove the halfshaft.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

That was my first thought Ray.in which case I don't have any 'wiggle room'. I was rather hoping it would be less than that as I assume the shafts don't butt against each other in the diff and the shaft retaining nut is slightly in board of the body line. An inch will make the difference between success and oh **** !
The shafts also have different part nos. Is that because they are different lengths perhaps?

Just asking.....are you sure you need a new bearing? I thiught I did but was told that in fact I only needed the outer bearing retainer which crushesnas you fit to stop play.
Just thought I'd mention this.
