Hi Folks,
I am an American expat living in Europe (Germany) and have been a lifelong petrolhead.
I spent some wonderful years of my youth in the USA in my father's 1967 Morgan Plus 4 where I gained a love for British cars and style.
Now that I am over 50, have always loved to wear tweed, own a British shotgun and shoot lots of clays, have owned a 1965 Triumph TR4, a 1959 Austin Healy 100/6 BN6 as well as a Jaguar XJS, I do consider myself a somewhat UK crazed continental now…(have been here for 26 years)
So, now I have the itch for a Morgan. The kids are a little bit bigger and dad now sees the need for a toy...something with 6 cylinders and a top that keeps out just enough rain to know you are motoring in something that was meant to be driven open...
So here I am to fish around and ask stupid questions until I sort out what I really want - seems to be a S1 or S2 3.0 Roadster but I did drive a 3.7 Roadster and that was just cat's meow - if it were not for that ugly dashboard that simply does not say Morgan to me...

Welcome Eric to the crazy world of Morgan's it sounds like you know exactly what you are letting yourself in for.
Sounds like you need a few test drives before you find the one that wants you, enjoy the voyage.

Totally agree with your view on the latest Roadster dash Eric. Unfortunately MMC had to adopt this as its part of the ECU, BCU electronics package for the Mustang engine. Having discussed concerns with my dealer they went the extra mile and had all the bezels including those of the switches removed and powder coated matt black. This goes some small way IMO in improving the look.

Welcome Eric Great to hear you wear tweed and you even mentioned the word ‘fish’ As you are in Germany there are some good German sources of alternative dashboards - MK and Morgan Park who will swap out one you don’t get on with Mine’s an MK one from 2008 on a Roadster fitted by Williams

Whilst upon Scotland a week or so ago we were discussing the Roadster ECU issue.
It was pointed out that it must be possible to ditch the MMC/Ford unit, buy an (MBE?) ecu as a total replacement , then configure all new instruments to work with it, and finally get the fuelling/ignition maps set up on a rolling road,
However it was also pointed out that this option would not be cheap. The ecu package would be around £1k , the dyno time approx £2k (2 days at £1k per day), and the new instruments and dashboard say £2k.
Maybe it all depends how deep your pockets are.
We also wondered whether anyone had tried to go down this route.
