It has been oppressively hot ... and so much heat coming though beside the steering column. Any ideas welcome for the future about how to reduce this. I have lost half my body weight in sweat ... so had to work hard to replace with food, wine, tapas, croissants etc ... and several litres of fizzy water ...

Usual fantastic reaction James. Loads of ‘belle voiture’ , thumbs up, waves and smiles ... it feel it my duty to let the sports exhaust echo off a few walls and howl up a few twisty roads - just to spread a little happiness!

In all seriousness- swmbo is happy to be in the car (as opposed to some other marques I have had in the past) because it gets such a warm reception rather than offence or envy ... it’s a great car to have on a trip like this.

Thanks for the interest and ‘support’ ... James the new bearing fix has made a huge difference!

I would like to know if anyone has found a way to cool them down, during the hot summer I thought I might have to carry an oven glove to change gear the lever was that hot. Has anyone had extra louvres added to the bonnet, did it help ?.

Some of the others may know more than I about the S1 but I seem to remember something about the footwells having slotted air vents. Hidden up inside somewhere. I might be thinking of the Aero +8 though. It might be worth inverting yourself and having a gader inside the footwell. Or borrow a small flexible 7 year old with chimney experience?

I must admit I prefer a nice crisp dry winter run in the Aero , with the heater off everything is nice and toasty. At mog 18 this year we had the aercon on for the three days but it blows in above your feet my left foot swelled up quite badly.I have thought of louvres but dont fancy the water ingress. The trouble is as soon as you stop the whole front end becomes one big heat soak.
