I have come across a little vehicle maintenance manual in my mother and father's files from the time they were in the services (1942 -45) and which may be of interest to TMers particularly those with pre ECU / fuel injected models.
I attach the table of required tasks and inspections which had to be undertaken in order to ensure that vehicles didn't break down in service. Looks basic but I certainly don't apply this rigorous sort of discipline now to my driving habits. There was as much onus on the drivers as there was on the NCO and CO inspectors to get this right.
The document it came from was titled 'Inspection, Maintenance and Care of Army Vehicles (Wheeled) Based on the "Task System" (4th August 1942)

That's really interesting, Rob. Do you mind if I put a copy onto Morganatica please?

Not at all Tim if you think that it would be of interest. I can't imagine that it is classified in any way.

Judging by the sample report sheets that come with it you would be put on a charge for that!

I like that chart. It would look good on a garage wall.
It reminds me of Critical Path Analysis when used to schedule work. When in Swansea Uni we went to RAF StAthan to see their CPA for Vulcan maintenance. Huge computer print out that would fill the walls of a mansion! Unfortunately no Vulcan under maintenance but a tour of the workshops instead. Like an operating theatre for cleanliness/tidiness.
