Snow flurries in the making. I don't mind the cold but when the road people start laying down salt I have to anticipate beforehand and have this beast locked up and prepped for Winter. One or two more runs then an oil change followed by a mini run to level the acidity build up. Inflate the tires to 35 lbs and pull the battery.

It will be a sad day but it has been a very good year!

During the winter I will occasionally open the door, look at the beast and sob quietly while closing the door and walking away...

Thank you. That is on my fervently hoped for wish list!

The State of Vermont salts the roads. That will kill any Morgan in short order. It will eat the aluminum and the dielectric formed by the aluminum joining the steel chassis will cause rust to start explosively. Let's not forget the wood!

The UK use a mix of salt and water, mixed with grit. But only when there frost forecast, or snow. In the south this means less than 25 days a year. In between it is often wet and mild, 45 to 55F, so the salt is washed away.

I don't take tarka out when there is salt on the road, but I do use the car through the winter.

Fill the fuel tank to the brim or drain it , otherwise the fuel will degrade and all the naught ethanol stuff will kick in.

I hear you Michael. Massachusetts is no better and my Morgan will go into hibernation in a few weeks. I put my stabilizer into the tank at the last minute last year and my carburettors gummed up. Wont make that mistake again;

The very last thing I do is go to a fuel station that carries high octane ethanol free fuel and fill it up. Then fuel stabilizer then run a few miles for it to get distributed throughout the fuel system.

Fuel with ethanol has a short shelf life on the order of 4-6 weeks. Ethanol free fuel can go up to about 6 months with a stabilizer added to help out.

This comes from painful experience. The only way humans seem to learn anything!
