Try that out for a bit and only then go for the 5 Link or consider the 4 seater spring option.

That could easily be the better plan as there’s no real cost advantage from factory fit only one of convenience. The staged upgrades after purchase are also part of the fun of Morgan ownership (I can see from this forum) so there’s no real down side from that aftermarket option.

Thanks guys, good call.

Yes....that’s the sensible way to go. And you’ll be trying out your Morgan in its purest state. Do rack up a few miles to let everything settle before you take the plunge and start changing things as the suspension will probably feel a bit stiff from day one.
But spending money and changing things to personalise your Morgan is one of the things about ownership....it’s huge fun.

I think that with a Morgan you really need to know why it it you are making changes to the suspension, what you expect to happen and what difference the changes make. To do this you really need to be familiar with the original suspension and to analyse, through experience (and through tapping into other’s experience), what is actually happening and what each part is doing across a variety of road surfaces, wheel loadings, accelerations and environments, not forgetting your own driving style. It’s quite personal really; what may suit one driver may not be necessary for another.

(Don’t wait for SWMBO. Dont’ mention it for a while then surprise her with it!)

I took these photos earlier........and they show the tight clearance mentioned above. A Panhard rod could be made to fit, but will be very close to the diff cover and tank.

Note that the metal framed cradle arrangement was fitted to my 2012 Morgan, but the tank on the 2016 protrudes further forward than 2012. The 2005 arrangement is totally different with loads of space and I'll be fitting a Panhard Rod to my Roadster as soon as I get enough time!!

So true. I must admit that my 2016 Plus 4 on standard dampers has a superb ride.......way beyond what I expected and have experienced previously. The factory (in consultation with specialists) have really developed the ride. The four leaf springs make a huge difference.

The panhard rod doesn't get anywhere near as high as the diff cover, so clearance isn't an issue. The panhard rod kit is bolted to the lower return on the chassis, and sits below the leaf springs

The SSL front kit includes adjustable dampers.

I installed it and find a great improvement in confort and also avoiding the "pneumatic hammer" effect on bad road with shocks at the front, especially at radiator level. I suffered on bad roads for the mechanic. My first intend was to protect the mechanic and not increasing the confort. But you cannot get a Citroen DS confort, it is a Morgan.

Dave, which 4 leaf springs do you have on your Plus 4. I have been chewing on what to do with mine as the RHS leaf spring has gone saggy for the second time in 20000miles!! Even considering the 5L but coming to the view it is not necessary for my driving style, but i need to change something. If i keep with leaf's i dont want to have to change them again in 10000miles. If i keep with Leaf's i will fit a PH and Brake reaction bars up front.
PS i have SSL up front also.

Ken the 2016 is on original leaf springs.

On my 2012 which had sagged badly I fitted the four seater four leaf springs which made a huge difference.

I agree get it stock factory and drive (I would say 2000 miles) to let the shocks, springs etc. bed in. My experience is that new shocks and springs take a bit of time and they change the ride a lot as they wear in. Tuning suspension is a lot of little.
