I've fitted this to my S1 -
Odyssey Extreme Racing 35 Battery (PC925)
- not cheap and you have to be careful not to 'cook' it by over trickle charging (see other posts) but has a good reputation otherwise.

Thanks James I have looked at this battery but different sites give different heights so am a bit concerned about fit ?
They also state it's suitable for cars upto 3500cc ?

it fits/works OK for me - I'm on my third!
You can get cheaper ,non-gel batteries but I think this has the edge.Just be careful not to leave it on a generic trickle charger (e.g. CTEK) as it can cook the internals.
There are specific chargers for the Odyssey but it's a bit of a minefield with lots of conflicting advice....

I have had over six years with the red flash 750 and I think it has cooked because I have been away for 3 months and the car hasn't been used.

I also use an Odyssey PC925 on my 4/4 (under-bonnet battery).
It replaced a Red Flash 750.
Excellent bit of kit.
Regarding trickle charging: If not using the car, I plug into an Optimate just once a week, rather than having it on permanent charge.
This seems to work well.

We tried an odyssey in your car a few years ago Bill fits perfect if you remember , got an old un in the garage if you want to try it.

NUMAX 3 Stage chargers are suitable for Odyssey batteries - co-incidentally, I just got an e-mail this morning extolling the virtues of the Numax charger.It seems to get a really good rep. from users and is one of the few recommended for the Odyssey batteries. I have an all singing/dancing CTEK charger but the Odyssey doesn't like it much. The Numax might be going on my Christmas list....  James
