Fear Not the Roadster (or the Aero's for that matter) on the Open Road, David!!!!
As you well know they are a fantastic drive.
Just need to watch out for the stupid ''''Gatestops'''' in those ancient properties

But those sleeping policemen are also a problem in the Aero's Frank and the latest models seem to be lower than the 8's. With loads of them in Eton Wick and Datchet, some of which seem higher than the regulation height, we seem to be surrounded by them and I spend time doing circuitous routes to avoid them ...

Fitting a sump guard reduces the Roadster's ground clearance further. Mulfab provide replacement sumps with 20mm shaved off, on an exchange basis.

I have no connection with Mulfab.

I have one fitted & it makes the bellhousing the lowest spot.
We survived the off road drive in Jersey courtesy of Tim de Feu so it seems touch wood to work

Aldermog will get its MulFab sump with the service on 18 August!

But crawling about under the car shows more evidence of grounding on the bell-housing and the Differential than the sump, which is remarkably free of "witness marks"!

So, 22K miles without a serious problem, but the Southwest is remarkably free of sleeping policemen and if there is no choice I slow to less than walking speed, taking the "pillow" types with 2 wheels. This doesn't make one very popular with other road users.

There's a racing Roadster for sale online with a dry sump, so it can be done................

Talking about protecting the underneath... Got stuck in a parking in aix en Provence: angled slope with a metal seal... One protection bolt got stuck in the metal seal. It took three park attendants to make the car "bounce" from front and back up a little till it was cleared again.
(Quite an unpleasant situation)

When we left to go to the Le Mans Classic we got stuck on the ferry ramp. Because the lake was high the ramp went slightly up, instead of down, to board the ferry. The hinged section at the end of the ramp dropped to the deck instead of being hinged up. This created a nice gap at the top, usually bottom, of the ramp that is exactly the same width as the crossmember under the gearbox, and yes, you guessed it, that is where the crossmember dropped into. It took 4 of us to lift the car enough to roll back off. I just hope the guys at the front where using the overriders, as we were at the back, and not lifting under the mudguards. We got the ticket refunded and spent an hour driving around the lake

All the time this was going on the ferry captain was going on about having a schedule to keep. We just told him we were on a schedule too
