I guess you could say that I too am a new French member.

As of 5th October, swmbo and I are both officially French citizens. It's not something we ever envisaged doing, as we both bought into the whole European project, and are heartbroken by Brexit.

It makes sense really, as we've lived here 30 years (longer than we've lived in the UK), we didn't have to renounce our British nationality to do it, and both of our daughters already have dual Nationality. Whatever Brexit brings, I think that our future lies on this side of the channel; should we move when we retire, it's more likely that we'd go somewhere warmer.

All that remains is for me to tell you that I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.

Would it be possible to explain your last sentence, please? I thought I was weird.

Giles I'm sure it was a tough decision and not taken lightly. Here in central Europe many UK friends (and my lovely G) are also facing the same dilemma but also the possibility of having to give up their British passport. Good on the French for not requesting it.

Congratulations Giles.

I'm still far from convinced that we are actually going to Brexit. May can't put a deal together and Parliament won't permit a no-deal crash out.
