Does anybody have some close-up shots of the new mounting system? Curious to see what’s new?

If I remember when I get home (hopefully CRS does not kick in) I will get some pictures of the new rack. Two cotter pins and undoing the suction and off it comes. The downside, suction has "bubbled" the center stripe decal

Was up at Melvyn Rutter’s last week and saw his wooden formers over the beetle back with aluminium slats. Sorry - didn’t take a picture but it’s in his catalogue. I guess the downside is that although looking retro you’re putting weight - albeit distributed - on the boot lid rather than the hoops.. Looks OK maybe with the wood stained... the Morgan Park one is nice too... This wooden rack design distributes the weight over the aluminum shell more evenly than a few bolt holes. I bet far less money than what Morgan is asking for their suction cup idea.

€420, plus c. €40 for shipping to the UK, and unlike the MMC design one can open the boot without removing the rack.
I went for the Rutter design (which I have stained to match the body colour) although the maximum recommended loading is only 12kg.

True, however you have to drill your car and all the load is on the aluminum shell. The Morgan’s version is supported at roll hoops, which feels and looks more solid, as it also blocks most of the rotational momentum? Also - it’s much bigger :-)

KankeL would it not have been better to have the bigger (heavier) trunk at the front of the rack?

MMC rack has the benefit you can get an awful lot of stuff on it: six 30 litre Kriega waterproof motorbike bags in our case!
